Whew!

edb1.jpgNow that the dust has settled from the whirlwind that was Edelman Digital Bootcamp, I’m finally getting a chance to pause and write up my own thoughts from the event.

First of all, I’m blown away by the work done by the UGA campaigns class that headed up the planning of this event! Lead by UGA grad student, Connie Braesch, this team of 13 students put in many long hours over the course of 46 days to plan and execute an event that typically would have taken months to pull together. But who needs months when you’ve got Kaye Sweetser leading the charge?? Not us! So thanks to the students for doing a phenomenal job with the event (learn more about them and what roles they play here), and thanks to Kaye for making the arrangements to have this event be the “client” for her campaigns class for the semester. Would this have all come together otherwise? Nope. (more…)

The Mobile Game

Saturday, March 1st, 2008

Coupons on your cell phone, paying for products with your cell phone, you can even take a picture of food with your phone and get an approximate calorie count.

Yes, this is really happening. The U.S.  is slower in the mobile race than Asia, but we’re trying to catch up.

Swift Mob: This is a free service that can take your company or personal Web site and make it available for mobile phones. It is free because they put a small ad on your site. The ability for people to reach your content on the go can be a powerful tool. There are also pay services in this department.

Top 10 Campaign Tactics - Using Web 2.0 for the Client Campaign

Saturday, March 1st, 2008

Ok, you’ve done your research and brainstorming. Now you have 100 tactics and, as Monte asks, “How do you whittle it down?”

That is the art of PR and one of the key questions of this conference. Sitting in this small group setting, listening to students discuss strategies and goals, I find they are having to expand their decision making skills and decide which 10 tactics will work best for their client’s objectives and overall goals.

New tool– Twemes!

Friday, February 29th, 2008

We wanted to update everyone on a new tool!  It is called twemes.  If you are going to follow us on twitter, you can go to www.twemes.com/edb and any tweet that has EDB in it will appear!  It is an easy way to follow all conversations about edb without being “friends” with all the twitters.

If you are tweeting about the conference you must use #EDB (insert the pound sign) for it to appear in the search.  Let me know if you have any questions about it!

29 people registered!

Monday, February 25th, 2008

If you haven’t, what are you waiting for? Space is limited, so register now!

For our out-of-towners: we blocked off hotel rooms at the Holiday Inn on Broad Street (the main street in downtown Athens). Rooms are set at $92/ night and have airport transportation for $40 each way. Want to cut costs? See who else from your university is going and maybe you can share a room.  (The Facebook group is a great way to network with others going to the event — connect with someone else looking for a roomie!)

Welcome!

We can’t wait to see everyone in Athens for some hands-on social media training. We will post important information about the conference. Let us know if you have any questions about the event and make sure to stop by to see new posts. Here’s some crucial information for potential attendees:

You can register online now.

Price is $25 for students to go to the Bootcamp and reception at East West Bistro. That’s a great deal, let’s be honest, even for college students. Tons of networking chances and social media fun to be had, so register early to secure a spot!

If you can’t go to our daytime conference, you can pay just $10 for the networking reception at East West.

Educators can look forward to round table discussions led by Phil Gomes and learning to integrate social media in the classroom for only $40.

Remember space is limited so register early and bring friends for a great weekend in Athens.

It will be worth your time. Trust me.
